Legal

Terms of service.

The agreement between you and Dashers when you use our app, website or services. Plain-English first, careful detail second.

Welcome

The short version.

Dashers is a free community platform for sharing surplus food and household items, and for rescuing food that would otherwise be wasted. By creating an account or using any part of Dashers you agree to these terms.

We've tried to keep the legal text honest and short. If anything is unclear, write to hello@dashers.app and we'll explain.

Eligibility

Who can use Dashers.

  • You must be at least 18 years old, or 16 with the consent of a parent or guardian.
  • You must be capable of forming a legally binding contract in your country.
  • You agree to follow the laws of the place you live in and any place you collect from.
  • You may only hold one personal account. Partner organisations may invite team members under one organisation account.

Account

Your account.

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials safe and for everything that happens on your account. Tell us straight away if you suspect unauthorised access. We may ask you to verify your phone number, email or identity to protect the community.

You can download your data or close your account at any time from Settings → Privacy. Some information may be retained where the law requires (for example, transaction records).

Community

How to behave on Dashers.

Dashers only works because people treat each other kindly. You agree to:

  • Be honest, polite and patient with neighbours and partners.
  • Show up on time for pickups, or let the other person know if plans change.
  • Respect privacy — never share another member's address, phone or photo outside Dashers.
  • Not harass, threaten, discriminate against, or impersonate anyone.
  • Not use Dashers for political campaigning, religious recruitment, spam or commercial promotion.

Listings

What you can — and can't — share.

You may share food and household items that are safe, legal and genuinely useful.

Never list:

  • Alcohol, tobacco, vapes, e-cigarettes or any age-restricted product.
  • Prescription or over-the-counter medicines, supplements or vitamins.
  • Raw eggs, raw shellfish, raw or undercooked meat or fish.
  • Unpasteurised dairy, home-bottled goods or anything past a 'use by' date.
  • Live animals, weapons, hazardous chemicals, knives or any illegal item.
  • Counterfeit, stolen or recalled goods.

We reserve the right to remove any listing, with or without notice, that we believe breaks these rules or puts members at risk.

Food safety

Sharing food safely.

  • Describe the food honestly: ingredients, allergens, storage, and the 'best before' date if visible.
  • Only share food you would happily eat yourself.
  • Keep cold food cold and hot food hot until handover.
  • If a partner shop or a Dash Hero gives you food, check it before eating.

Allergens and individual tolerances vary — collectors are responsible for confirming a food is right for them. Dashers does not inspect or guarantee any listing.

Pickups

Arranging collection.

Lister and collector agree the pickup time, place and any handover details through in-app messaging. You meet at a place that feels safe to both of you. Dashers is not a courier and is not present at the handover.

If something goes wrong, use the in-app report flow and we'll review within 48 hours.

Free

No selling, no money changing hands.

Items shared on Dashers are free. You may not ask for, accept, or suggest any payment, deposit, donation, voucher, swap or favour in return for an item collected through the platform. Doing so is grounds for immediate removal.

Subscriptions (see below) are separate — they pay for the platform itself, not for items.

Subscriptions

Paid plans & billing.

  • Some features are unlocked by a monthly or yearly subscription. Prices are shown in your local currency at checkout.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. Cancel any time in Settings → Billing; access continues to the end of the paid period.
  • Where required by law, you may withdraw within 14 days of first purchase for a full refund. Outside that window, refunds are at our discretion.
  • Failed payments may be retried; we'll email you before access is suspended.

Partners

Business partner accounts.

Shops, cafés, kitchens and other businesses can register as Dashers partners to redistribute surplus stock. Partners agree to provide accurate information about their premises, to follow local food-safety law, and to keep an up-to-date list of authorised team members in the partner portal.

Partners grant Dashers a non-exclusive licence to display their name, logo and zone for the purpose of running the service and reporting impact.

Dash Heroes

Volunteers.

Dash Heroes are volunteers who collect surplus from partners and redistribute it. Dash Heroes are not employees, agents or contractors of Dashers. You volunteer at your own risk, must complete the required training, and must follow the partner's site rules.

Content

Photos, descriptions, messages.

You keep ownership of everything you post. By posting it on Dashers you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, resize and share that content as part of running the service (for example, showing your listing on the map or in a partner's impact report). We never sell your content.

You confirm you have the right to post whatever you upload.

IP

Our brand & code.

'Dashers', 'Dash Heroes', our logo and the look and feel of the app belong to Dashers. You may link to us and share screenshots, but please don't copy our branding or imply we endorse your project without written permission.

Liability

What Dashers is — and isn't — responsible for.

Dashers is a platform that connects people. We don't own, inspect, prepare or deliver any item shared through the service. To the maximum extent allowed by law, Dashers and its team are not liable for:

  • The quality, safety or legality of items shared between members.
  • Disputes between members or between members and partners.
  • Indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of Dashers.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law.

Enforcement

Suspension and account closure.

We may suspend or close any account that breaks these terms, harms the community, or creates legal risk. Where possible we'll explain why and give you a chance to respond. You can close your own account at any time.

Updates

Changes to these terms.

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Dashers after that date means you accept the new version.

Jurisdiction

Governing law & disputes.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cameroon, where Dashers SARL is registered, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence. We'd always rather resolve a problem informally — write to legal@dashers.app and we'll do our best.
